 | Emergency PFA Process
A District Justice (DJ) on duty will determine whether or not you qualify for the Emergency PFA (EPFA) Be prepared to wait until the DJ can see you. Be prepared to describe the most recent incident of abuse or threats of abuse made against you. If the DJ grants the EPFA, you will be asked to take a copy to your local police department so they can serve it on the defendant. The DJ provides instructions on how to file a Temporary PFA on the next business day. If you do not follow the process for a temporary PFA your EPFA will expire and will no longer be valid or enforceable by police.
