![]() ![]() | BWIC provides free emergency shelter for single women and women with children in a communal living environment. The shelter can accommodate 26 women and children and provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence for up to 30 days. In addition to shelter, we provide supportive counseling, advocacy to women and their children in an effort to educate, empower, and enhance the quality of life as they seek safety. The shelter location is confidential and secure, with 24-hour staff coverage. To access shelter services an individual should call either hotline number (610-372-9540 English or 610-372-7463 Spanish), or the shelter office (610-373-2053). The shelter provides victims and their children with a safe haven, as well as with support as they move forward with goals and decisions regarding legal, financial and general everyday life matters. Women and their children living in the shelter are exposed to a living situation free from violence. Children learn by example that one can live without violence. Staff and volunteers model non-violent behavior and encourage adult victims to use non-violent parenting alternatives with their children and non-violent conflict resolution with other shelter residents. | |||
